Trip Description:

• Rating: Easy with some adventurous spots and great views.

Route: The off-highway trails will start in Warner Springs where we’ll make our way north around Beauty Mtn to near Anza, then head west to Hwy 371, then south back down to SR-79. From here we’ll head east to garage.79 for lunch. garage.79 is a beer/wine/soft drinks garage, with a Mexican lunch eatery outside.  The Mexican eatery only takes cash or Zelle so please plan accordingly. Distance from Warner Springs to Garage 79 is approximately 45 miles. The trailwill start out around 1900 ft of elevation and we’ll climb to almost 5000 ft with beautiful backcountry views.

• Meet: Saturday, Aug 26, 9:00 am, Depart: 9:30 am
• Where: Dudley’s bakery in Santa Ysabel (near the intersection of Hwys SR-78 and SR-79).

Alternate meeting place (for attendees driving from the North): Intersection of Hwy 79 and S2 north of Lake Henshaw, ~9:45 am.  Please contact the trip leader in advance if meeting here.

What to bring:

• Required:
  • Meals and snacks for the day (bring cash if you plan to eat at garage.79)
  • Drinking water (Gallon per day per person, consider pet’s needs if applicable)
  • Any necessary tire changing tools, including anti-theft lug nut keys
• Recommended:
  • All-Terrain tires
  • Sunscreen and hat
  • Amateur 2m radio with external antenna (very highly recommended)
  • Any emergency & recovery gear you may have
  • Weather is unpredictable – checking the National Weather Service report is recommended.
