7 vehicles made the trip and returned, which is always a plus! Saturday featured the Berdoo Canyon trail through Geology Tour Road, then exiting the park and heading to our favorite camping spot for a campfire evening under the stars. Sunday included a short run on Covington Flats road to Eureka Peak for some spectacular views and photos of snowcapped mountains descending to desert. Trip highlights included:
- John selflessly high-centering his new defender on a rock in order to give the group a chance to come together as a team and rescue him! 3 jacks, 4 traction boards and 1 winch later, the team succeeded.
- Finding bonus “chicken bakes” for snacks while we filled up with gas at Costco – did you know they put BACON in those???
- Mark conquering the optional “Sand Mountain,” showing off his lockers, video below.
- Reid, Lisa (and Enzo) all keeping a smile on their faces, even during dusty vehicle recovery.
- Anthony bringing out his 3 week new defender for a maiden voyage.
- Jonathan fine tuning his amazing rig, including heated blanket!
- Great happy hour and campfire time with contributions by all, especially Danny’s cabernet and stories
- Simon keeping Walter from eating the happy hour food, even though it was placed at the perfect height for a Great Dane.
- Renewing our friendship with Rosemarie at Desert Rose Campground – always a great time.
- Spending time together outdoors, solving the world’s problems and having fun.
