[CANCELLED] San Bernardino Mountains Camping
September 21 @ 8:30 am - September 22 @ 3:00 pm
Cancelled due to the Line fire. Stay tuned…we’re working on an alternative trip.
Trip Description:
Rating: Easy/Moderate. Some challenging areas with beautiful views.
Details:
Saturday We will start the trail off Highway 330 on the way to Big Bear taking 1N09 eastward across open meadows and across several creeks and streams. There might be running water in some of the creeks but usually dry by now. Bear Creek is a popular fishing location. We will continue to 1N64, and then to 1N54, which is known as Clarks Grade. This will take us to the top of the mountains on the south side of Big Bear Lake. We will take 2N10, eventually ending up in City of Big Bear. Back on pavement, we will cross to the north side of the lake, and head west toward Fawnskin. We will go off pavement again using 2N09 to go out toward our camping site near the junction with 3N16. We can stop in Big Bear Lake for food and supplies if necessary.
Sunday After breakfast we’ll take 3N16 west to 3N12, and then to 2N71 and wind our way back to Fawnskin. From there out to Hwy 18 and 330, and then go home.
Important note: **A (FREE) California campfire / camp stove permit required if you plan to have either. Get yours HERE.**
