Santa Rosa Mountains Day Trip (optional camp ground for overnight)

Trip Description:
Rating: Easy, bouncy backroads with great views at high elevation.
Details: This trip will be to the Santa Rosa Mountains in nearby Riverside County, between Anza and Palm Desert. This is a scenic higher elevation trip with cool pine-scented breezes. A morning drive will bring us to a campground near Toro Peak for a picnic lunch. The return trip will have us back in San Diego by late afternoon. Anyone has the option of staying overnight at the campground and driving back the next morning.

Important note: **A (FREE) California campfire / camp stove permit required if you plan to have either. Get yours HERE.**
Time & Place to Meet:
- Meet: Saturday, August 17, 9:00 am, Depart: 9:30 am
- Where: Park & Ride, Deer Springs/Mountain Meadow exit from I-15. Please arrive fueled up.
What to bring:
- Required:
- Meals and snacks.
- Drinking water (1 gallon per day per person, consider pet’s needs if applicable)
- All-terrain tires and full-sized spare
- Any necessary tire changing tools, including anti-theft lug nut keys
- Any emergency & recovery gear you may have
- Sufficient fuel for your vehicle
- If you plan on cooking anything, get the CA campfire/camp stove permit (FREE). Get yours HERE
- If you decide to stay overnight, bring camping gear appropriate for primitive camping
- Recommended:
- Family and dog
- Sunscreen and hat
- Amateur 2m radio with external antenna (very highly recommended)
